Understanding the Art of Hearing God's Voice

Introduction

God speaks at sundry times and in diverse manners for different reasons. He doesn’t relate with men without talking to them. What God will accomplish in the midst of His people is controlled by what He says to them. What God says to us is very important to Him and us. The Bible is the most important and valuable book on earth because it is the word of God. The word of God is quick and very powerful. It has ability to separate the soul from the spirit. The strength of God to accomplish anything on earth is in His word. People of God are people of His word. The reason why hearing from God is very important is because God can’t give men destinies without talking to them. However, what men hear from God is different from what God speaks. The truth is that it is who we are that controls what we hear from God and how He speaks to us. God speaks purposefully. Those who desire to hear God clearly must study how to hear themselves. One of the outstanding ways that God speaks to men is from themselves. Therefore, to study to know how we are wired will aid us in hearing the voice of God clearly.

There must be a sanctified relationship between God and us that will attract His presence to us. Because what God says to us will always be influenced by who we are, we need to prepare ourselves for divine visitation. God’s presence is attracted to the earth through the readiness of men. There must be a binding relationship between God and us that will motivate Him to speak to us. God speaks to instruct, comfort or sometimes to rebuke. Our desire to hear from Him in any matter must motivate us to establish a covenant relationship with Him. It is how we are made and our impartations that control what we hear from God and how He speaks to us.

Vision is foresight with insight based on hindsight. It is a clear picture men paint about their envisioned future. God speaks to men from altars of vision. He takes from us to make for us. At the altar of vision where covenant is enacted, God reveals Himself to men. God’s promises to men are established at the altar of vision. At the altar of vision, divine directions are given to men. Men prepare themselves to hear the voice of God at the altar of vision.

The second person of our thought is the hidden personality of our lives through whom God speaks to us. It is through the second person of our thought that we receive the witnesses of the Holy Spirit.

God speaks to us so that He can be part of us. He doesn’t separate Himself from what He says to us. The honour that believers have on earth is to know the mind of God in every situation. God blesses us through His instructions. We are imparted, set free and healed as God speaks to us. God’s prosperity and security are given to men through His word. God’s word bears His presence. When we know the will of God for any situation, we are delivered from danger and mishaps. When God speaks His mind to us concerning any situation, He becomes part of that situation. Those who maintain fellowship with God can’t be trapped in the ugly net of darkness.

God’s word declares His presence and interest. God speaks to His people to identify with them and their future. Those who are brought to inner fellowship from the act of hearing the voice of God will never remain the same. God’s presence is more important to us than any blessing that He can give to us. God’s presence is a sign that He is around. God raises standard against our enemies through His voice. You can choose to be all you are expected to be as you tarry in fellowship with God.
