Privacy Policy

Effective date: 11 September 2026
Last updated: 11 September 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Shekinah Media House (“we”, “us”, “the Publisher”) handles personal information when you use shekinahmediahouse.com, our WooCommerce shop, and any related mobile reading app that connects to this store (together, the “Service”).

Nigeria’s Nigeria Data Protection Regulation (NDPR) and the Nigeria Data Protection Act inform how we treat this data. This notice is written in plain language so a customer can see what we actually store — not a generic WordPress template.

1. Who is responsible

Shekinah Media House is the controller of personal data for this Service. The store runs on our WordPress / WooCommerce website. For privacy questions contact shekinahmediahouse@gmail.com or use our Contact Us page.

2. What we collect

2.1 Account and checkout

When you buy or create an account we store your name, email address, billing details you enter at checkout, order history, and download entitlements. Passwords are stored hashed by WordPress (we cannot read the password back).

2.2 Payments

Payments are processed by Paystack. We store payment references, amounts, and order status so we can match a successful charge to your order. We do not store full card numbers, CVV, or PIN. Paystack’s own privacy policy covers the payment page.

2.3 Website technical data

Like most sites, our servers and security tools may log IP addresses, browser type, and request paths for a short time to keep the Service up and to limit abuse. Login cookies keep you signed in to My account and the admin area when applicable.

2.4 Cookies and similar tools

We use cookies that are needed to run the cart, checkout, and account login. Some plugins (for example analytics, SEO, consent, or marketing tools we enable) may set additional cookies. You can control cookies in your browser. Blocking essential cookies may break checkout.

2.5 Newsletter and contact forms

If you subscribe to a newsletter or send a contact message, we store the email and message content you provide so we can reply or send the updates you asked for. You can unsubscribe from marketing emails using the link in those messages or by contacting us.

2.6 Mobile app (when used)

If you use our mobile e-book app, it may send a login token (JWT) and fetch your purchased downloads from this website. The app may store files on your device for offline reading. Device identifiers used only for that app experience are handled as needed to provide the library you bought.

2.7 Comments and media (if enabled)

If comments are enabled on the blog, we collect the data shown in the comments form and may store IP and browser information to fight spam. Do not upload images with embedded location data you do not want public.

3. Why we use it

We use this information to:

  • Process orders, deliver downloads, and support your account
  • Process payments and prevent fraud
  • Reply to support requests and (if you opt in) send newsletters
  • Keep the website secure and working
  • Comply with law and protect the Publisher and other customers

4. Legal basis

Buying a book and creating an account are a contract with us. Optional items (newsletter) are consent you can withdraw. Keeping the shop secure and preventing fraud is a legitimate interest of the Publisher. We do not sell your personal information.

5. Who we share it with

We share only what a processor needs to run the Service, for example:

  • Paystack — checkout and payment verification
  • Hosting and email providers — running the website and sending order or password-reset mail
  • Plugin vendors we use (for example WooCommerce-related, analytics, SEO, or form tools) — only as needed for that feature

Some processors may handle data outside Nigeria. Using Paystack, Google services (if enabled), or similar tools means those transfers may be required for that feature.

6. How long we keep it

  • Account and order records: while the account/order is needed for downloads, tax, accounting, or dispute handling
  • Support emails: for as long as needed to resolve your request and keep a reasonable record
  • Server and security logs: a short operational window
  • Newsletter data: until you unsubscribe or we delete the list entry

7. Your rights

Under Nigerian data-protection law you may ask to see the personal data we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it where we have no duty to keep it, or to object to a use that is not required for the Service.

You can already view and update much of your account details under My account. To close an account or request an export, email shekinahmediahouse@gmail.com. We may need to keep payment and order records for accounting or legal reasons even after an account is closed.

8. Children

The shop sells teaching materials for a general audience. We do not knowingly create paid accounts for children without a parent or guardian. If you believe we hold a child’s account in error, contact us and we will delete it where appropriate.

9. Security

Passwords are hashed. Payments go through Paystack’s hosted checkout. Access to downloads is tied to your order or account. No system is perfectly secure. If we learn of a breach that affects you, we will work to contain it and notify you where the law requires.

10. Changes

We may update this policy. The “Last updated” date will change. Continued use after a change means you accept the new policy. For a material change we will try to notice you on this website or by email when we have one on file.
