God in the Likeness of Men
Introduction
It has always been the will of God to dwell with men and share His destiny with them. When God shares His destiny with men He will also take their destiny. If God must be found in the midst of men, He must take the form of a man. For God to dwell in the midst of men, He must become a god. Whosoever desires to represent God must first of all look like Him. It is regrettable that those who are meant to be gods die like children of men. God can’t achieve His purposes on earth until He takes the nature of gods. To be like God is to be a god. Whatever is born of the Spirit is spirit and whatever is born of the flesh is flesh. Man was created in the image and likeness of God to function for Him on earth. It is only a man who has the image and likeness of God that can exercise God’s kind of dominion on earth.
The image and likeness of God in men make them gods. This implies that it is only gods that can exercise God’s kind of dominion. To be a god is to see ourselves exactly the way God sees us. Men who don’t see themselves exactly the way God sees them can’t represent Him on earth. What God will use us to accomplish on earth always be controlled by what we have become. Looking is a very important aspect of our everyday life because we are meant to live from what we see. As male and female created in the image and likeness of God, we are expected to see God as we look at ourselves and also see ourselves as we look at God. Nothing can replace the importance of seeing ourselves exactly the way God sees us. To create a distorted image of who we are is to share in the destiny of the devil. Men create fallen gods from themselves from spiritual and mental distortion. When the eyes of Adam opened through his contact with the forbidden fruit, he moulded the devil from himself. What men make their God is what they see as they look at themselves.
The way we relate with men must be controlled by how they see themselves. God doesn’t relate with us the way He sees us; He relates with us the way we see ourselves. The truth is that we are exactly the way we see ourselves. Those who must see themselves the way they are, are expected to be in-charge of themselves. We need to be in-charge of ourselves if we must be in-charge for God. When men enthrone God and His revealed word over their lives, He makes gods out of them.
However, the man God created was the very man in Him. The man in God came into existence from the mass of light. This is why the usefulness of man to God must be controlled by both his spiritual and mental illumination. Because God quarried Himself from mass of light, every divine personality is expected to be part of creating himself. In the hill of revelation, God shares His nakedness only with naked men. Those who hide themselves from God can’t have access to anything that has rich value in His sight. In the hill of the Law, God clothed Moses with astounding glorious brightness that made it impossible for Israel to behold his transformed face.
