THE GREAT WHITE THRONE JUDGMENT

INTRODUCTION

As important as this subject is, it has been widely misunderstood. Like any other biblical subject that requires the inspiration of the Holy Spirit to be correctly interpreted, this millennial event has suffered great controversy because of private interpretations. The great white throne judgment is imminent but God like any other spirit can’t judge men. Any throne where men will appear for judgment will have a man to sit on it. More also, judgment can’t be executed by mere men. Jesus Christ will sit upon the great white throne to accomplish judgment at His second coming because He is both God and man. He is declared worthy to sit upon this throne because in His first advent, He died and rose from the grave. Because grave couldn’t keep Him, He is worthy to judge both the quick and the dead. Every action has its consequences. It is the nature of God to cause men to harvest what they sow.
Everyone will appear before this judgment throne to give account of all that they did in the flesh. Before this great white throne, books will be compared with the book. Every man’s work will be judged. As many as are designed to appear before this judgment throne will be brought before it by the hand of the Almighty God. Men can’t be separated from whatever destiny had pre-ordained. At the great white throne judgment, Jesus Christ will compare the endowment of our lives with what we make out of it. The anger of God will be greatly revealed upon those who deliberately despised what they were born to accomplish. The great white throne judgment is not a place of religious activities like many assume; it is a practical court were justice prevails over sentiment.
All secrets will be revealed before the all-seeing eyes of the righteous Judge who sits on this throne. If God allowed Jesus Christ to be crucified so that He can be qualified to sit upon this throne, all our righteous work will be sufficiently rewarded by God who will always do what is right. The foundation of this visionary throne is laid upon justice and judgment. It is a visionary throne that will manifest from the imaginative heart of the man Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ the Lion of Judah who sits upon this great white throne is also the guardian angel of the throne. God enjoys the honour of separating things. Because of His ability to interpret destinies, He will always reward men according to their works. Goats are separated from sheep before this throne and everyone is rewarded according to His work.
The greatness of this throne is not in the size of it, nor is it in the number of the multitude who stand unveiled before it, but in the greatness of the Judge who presides over it – the Lord Jesus Christ. The white colour is representative of His holiness and purity, and of how fitting it is that He should judge mankind. It is a fearful thing to fall into the hand of the living God.
However, the great white throne judgment is different from the Bema judgment. At Bema, it is only those who are saved and washed in the blood that will appear but at the great white throne judgment, everybody will appear, even elements will come for judgment. This imminent judgment must not make us afraid but must motivate us to live righteously so that we can be bold to appear before the Lord. Because of the controversy of this subject and how widely it has been misinterpreted, I will encourage you to read this book in-between lines. The gain of its revelation will last throughout eternity.
