ENJOYING THE FAVOUR OF THE LION OF JUDAH
INTRODUCTION
Favour refers to God showing kindness to someone or treating him/her specially. Divine favour is not free or automatic; it is what one should connect to. You must do something for God before you can connect to His favour. What you do is the first human part of favour. When you do your part to connect to God, the second part will be God’s. All great people are favoured people. The Bible says that Noah obtained favour in the sight of the Lord.
In Genesis 6:8, the Bible says, “8 But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD.”
The word ‘grace’ also means favour. Moses opined that if God’s favour won’t be with them as they journeyed to the Promised Land, then God should not take them out. Favour is all encompassing. Gabriel told Mary that she was highly favoured in the midst of women. Favour is real and can grow.
In Luke 1:27-28, the Bible says, “27 To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin’s name was Mary. 28 And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women.”
An intercessor is a person who through prayer can take away evil from people and bring them good tidings. Every intercessor is highly favoured and can bring God into any situation through prayer. God will certainly visit as long as an intercessor keeps praying.
There are things one will never understand except one is favoured. Sometimes, some people doubt God and grumble needlessly. They need to visit the hospital so that they can appreciate the value of sleeping and waking up with good health. Truly be happy wherever you find yourself. If you are happy in a difficult situation, God will be moved to help you out. The easiest way to overcome ugly situations is to remain calm and happy. Be thankful to God for good health and be happy for all He has done for you.
One of the ways to know favoured people is that they are always happy and satisfied. There is nothing that can’t change in the face of favour. Favoured people exude happiness. Hence, they never become stranded. They use their happiness to crush all negatives. In my thirty years of preaching, I have never seen anyone who lacks joy and still succeeds. Always be joyful so as to retain God’s favour. God will alter anything that troubles you if you can give Him the platform. Therefore, never become angry at God or make him your enemy. While hoping to rise to a new level, never forget where you used to be. This should help you understand that you should always appreciate God and be happy.
There are several practical ways through which God favours people. One of such ways is God making Himself available to people. As a married man, your presence around your wife is more important than giving her money because she married you and not material things. God believes He has favoured us when He keeps company with us or brings us into His presence. One can’t reduce in God’s presence because it is a place of favour. It is a wonderful experience to enjoy God’s company. God sends messengers to us so that He can keep company with us through them. If God can talk to men without prophets, then why would He bother about raising prophets? If God wants to help us, He will send us a messenger. God’s messenger is a plus to men; he won’t subtract from us, rather he will add to our blessings.
It is indeed a great favour for God to keep company with men because certain evils and limitations will not confront men when God is around. It was for this reason that Moses requested for God not to send them to the Promised Land if He won’t go with them. Moreover, God could only be with them in that company as a man. In Exodus 3, God said that He had heard the cry of the people and that He will deliver them. He later went to Moses and said, “Come now and I will send you to Pharaoh.”
In Exodus 3:7-10, the Bible says, “7 And the LORD said, I have surely seen the affliction of my people which are in Egypt, and have heard their cry by reason of their taskmasters; for I know their sorrows; 8 And I am come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of that land unto a good land and a large, unto a land flowing with milk and honey; unto the place of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites. 9 Now therefore, behold, the cry of the children of Israel is come unto me: and I have also seen the oppression wherewith the Egyptians oppress them. 10 Come now therefore, and I will send thee unto Pharaoh, that thou mayest bring forth my people the children of Israel out of Egypt.”
When God introduces certain people into your life, He has decided to favour you and He will want you to enjoy the favour.
