ALTAR OF THE LIVING WORD

INTRODUCTION

The primary assignment of all who are sent by God is to speak His word. What God achieves in the midst of His people is controlled by their relationship with His word. Those who speak the word of God are preserved by it. It is the incorruptibility of the word of God that preserves both God’s person and destiny. Those who preach the word of God are the custodians of God’s destiny. God will always pay attention to those who pay attention to His word. God’s word is infallible because it is immutable. It is immutable because it is incorruptible.

God speaks to His people to be part of them. The person and legacy of God are preserved on the earth through the power of His word. The faithfulness of God is established on the immutability of His counsel. Being separated from the word of the Lord is like being denied the breath of life. All that Jesus paid for are given to us through His word. Trifling with the word of God denies God the opportunity to be part of the earth. The way God relates with us is controlled by how we relate with His word. The reason God became one with His word was to enable Him unite Himself with men.

However, the spiritual decadence and corruption that is going on in pulpits is the actual burden that inspired the writing of this book. God’s people are continuously subjected to strange baptisms due to wrong use of pulpits. The pulpit is an altar that is connected to Calvary. Jesus Christ the living Word is the guardian Spirit of the New Testament Church and must be made the focus of our message. Because Jesus Christ bought the Church, He owns the pulpit. If He owns the pulpit, then He should be the message on it. A lot of pulpits are powerless because of the absence of the sword of God’s word.

Preachers must avoid the misuse of the pulpit. A lot of drama go on every Sunday in so many local assemblies in the name of ministrations. God believes that the altar is stolen when Jesus is not made the central focus. Pastors who turn the people away from God through the wrong use of the altar will not be protected by God.

The owner of the Church is the living Word and His altar must be dedicated to the preaching of the word of God. People of God are the people of His word. God takes the nature of His word to be part of His people. Preachers should give themselves continuously to the ministry of the word. A lot of evils happen in the Church because of the scarcity of God’s word on the altar. God reveals ultimate power through His word. It is a wonderful thing to be a channel through which the living word of God is transmitted to the people. The pulpit is an awesome place with limitless power and opportunity. God ties the destinies of believers to the altar of the Church. God depends on the altar to reach out to His people. Whatever happens on the pulpit represents God and God must not be represented in outrageous ways.

The Holy Spirit is grieved when preachers use the altar of the living word to promote all manners of carnal activities. We will give ourselves to prayer and the ministry of the word (Acts.6vs.4). Satan is empowered to take over the lives of believers when he is continuously spoken about on the altar. Preachers should know that whatever they say on the altar affects those that hear them.

Nevertheless, the words ‘altar’ and ‘pulpit’ are interchangeably used to convey the thought of the Holy Spirit in different places in this book. Jesus believes that He is robbed of His Church when satan or wrong things are emphasized on the pulpit. It is outrageous to praise a man’s enemy in his house. Giving satan the attention he doesn’t deserve on the pulpit diminishes the value of the pulpit users.

I decided to use the medium of this book to remind pastors of all that is expected of them. To be a man of God is a herculean task that has several expectations. Considering the frail nature of man, it is always easy to cope with the demand of God and the people but we must try to make sure that the work of God is not mocked.

To whom much is given much is also expected. It is outrageous that the pulpit has raised so many gospel merchants and charlatans who trade with the living word of the Lord. A lot of magical activities are going on at pulpits. The opportunity the pulpit provides for preachers to minister the word of God must not be used for money-mongering. Wolves in sheep’s clothing who use the altar to extort the people will be judged by God in this millennium. The urgency of this time is commanding pulpit users to consider their ways and put their lives in order. The cleansing of the Church must precede the coming of the Lion of Judah. Those who keep the covenant of the Lord shall be preserved by their consecration and devotion.

This book emphasized the following viz.:

  1. The need for pastors to use the pulpit in a godly way
  2. Make Jesus the central focus
  3. Preach the word in season and out of season
  4. Avoid emphasizing satan on the pulpit
  5. Discourages money-mongering

If you are a sincere pastor/preacher who have a desire to serve God in the Spirit and truth, make this book a must read.

Thank you for reading.
