THINKING WITH CHRIS CHRISTIAN VOL. 40
INTRODUCTION
When God wants to give us destiny, He checks who we are and the way we think. He also checks what we have. It is wrong to ignore these three things and still want destiny. Sometimes, people believe that their destiny will come from outside. It is manipulation to think that your destiny will come from outside. Your destiny is like you. Therefore, it is very important to check the way you are, who you are, your abilities and gifts, and then, you can check what you will be.
In great societies, abilities are known early. Prodigy does not hide. When people of great abilities are born, they don’t need teachers to tell them about their abilities because they will be too outstanding to be looked for. When prophecies are made, abilities command God to recognize children who will fulfil such prophecies in the womb. It is only people who are not unique that look for abilities as adults.
It is wrong to look for destiny when you have not discovered ability and it is painful that people recognize ability when it is too late. Most times, it is after the energy of their lives is exhausted; but we need energy to fulfil destiny. It is not possible for one to discover what he is born for after so much time is wasted. God will not tolerate abilities to be manifested after so many years are lost. This is why God goes to it from the womb. Whether it is Jesus on the heavenly throne, or David or Joseph to sit on their earthly throne, ability is needed. It is not the business of God to lift men up. So, it is frustration that makes people commit their destiny into the hand of God and expect a spirit to produce a crown for them. Spirits don’t produce crowns men wear. Men wear the crown they produce.
People reveal who they are through their thoughts and character. It is wrong to ignore what people are revealing. It is also wrong to ignore how someone behaves. Everyone behaves like him or herself. God does not make substitutes. When a job makes a demand on ability, there will be no swap. When Samuel poured oil on David, there was a Goliath in future and to kill Goliath, will require ability. However, the ability is not something people produce as adults, David was born with it. This was the reason God refused those who didn’t have it because God put it in people before birth. This is why you should not get arrogant about ability when you see it in people.
When David wanted to kill Uriah, he arranged with Joab for Uriah to be placed in the front lines of battle where Joab fights and deliberately left him exposed to enemy’s forces and then, Uriah died. This means Uriah didn’t have the ability to fight in battlefront lines while Joab did. God calls one’s ability. It is ability that God anoints and crowns.
